Having a terrible time with A IH carb. Idles nice, will run wide open good with no load, falls apart with load. take power needle out(big needle on top of carb) runs fine under load. Float set at !/4".Have had apart 3 times run small wire an carb cleaner. Thanks For any help. DOUG

If it runs good with the needle OUT, but not with the needle IN, the carburetor needs a thorough disassembly and cleaning.

So Had apart 3 times cleaned, orfice at bottom of power needle open , fuel nozzle clean. 2 holes in bottom of bowl go to drain plug, seems like should be hole up to nozzle. I am missing something.

You need to poke out all passage ways with a small wire etc. I use a torch tip cleaner tool to do it with. Just because you can spray carb cleaner into the holes and out does not mean you get that little piece of dirt that when running causes you problems so you have to poke every thing out

U might be onto something I poked everything with real small wire. But is like that metering jet at the bottom of that power valve is not big enough. Have it apart and in carb cleaner overnight tonight will check it out Saturday afternoon . Thanks

DGK,
The marvel carb on my 1950 IH C is the same way. I even put 2 washers between spring and jet to keep jet in place. My carb has only one adjustable jet. It works backwards from what you would think. Turn it all the way in and fuel mix goes rich. Turn it all the way out and the fuel mix goes lean. Mine works great all the way out and I'm not taking it apart. My plugs were black and tractor drank gas when jet was all the way in. Now, the plugs look line new ones, all white.

So run yours for a while, then look at plugs.

I purchased a cheap sand blaster, spark plug cleaner from HF so I cleaned them and they work great.
