MD motor (update)

I tore into my 'stuck' MD yesterday.Cyl 3 and 4 are rusted. 1 and 2 are clean.All 4 sleeves were loose.They would have fallen out if it got turned upside down.The head wasnt stuck at all,like it was just sitting there.The head is also cracked.Same with the oil pan.It almost fell on my head.Also looks as if it were run out/low on oil. #2 rod brg is rough/scuffed. The crank is OK.The tractor was painted many years ago. But the paint isnt burned off the exhaust manifold.The former owner isnt sure that it's run since the middle '60s.It also sat outside in the mountains at 9000 ft for probably 20 years.I cant find any OH kits anywhere.Are they really unavailable?Starting to look like it's going to be a 'boat anchor'.I guess I'll park it out back till I figure out what to do.....
 
Steve, I did one 2 years ago lower end. Could not find 248 sleeves and pistons. But 281 piston and sleeve kit where around, That ment I had to change it all. oldiron29

My machine shop got everything to rebuild my SMD from PowerMax tractor engine parts. Mine kit came with 4" Case IH pistons.

Here in the Midwest (mn) i have no problem locating
A running md I purchased a 47 model overhauled rebuilt pump injectors like new tires rebuilt generator starter all new wiring and battery box for 2200 just needs paint I have bought them as cheap as 600 I would just locate a running one at reasonable price I have a 51 with Swartz wide front char Lynn power steering nice tin food 14.9.38 tires good clean md I would let go for $2500
 
I recently got a nos s and p 4 in. kit from Webers Tractor Works They have a website. Very helpful and dependable. As for the head, might be possible to fix it with some very talented work. Depends where it cracked.
