farmall H distributer

I have a 1945 H that has a horizontal distributor. I want to install a live hdy pump that has a vertical distributor that has been stripped of all it's workings. Will the horizontal and and vertical distributors interchange?

Thank You Howard

yup they will interchange. the vertical was usually a delco distributor. i think prestolite was the other.

I am pretty sure he cannot use the IH dist in the Delco right angle housing, he can use the IH with the drive unit to connect to the pump and still have the horz. dist.

yup, he would need to use the right angle drive with the delco distributor. the i-h distributor will not fit on the delco drive. not quite sure what the end result he is seeking. if the live pump is stripped of the innards what will it accomplish unless he is missing the housing that drives the i-h distributor.

The pump is fine but distributor is stripped. How can you tell the difference Between the two distributors?

Thanks Howard

You said you have both?????

At this point we need pictures and good understanding of what you are trying to do.

Find another Delco distributor. Bunches of them out there.

I do not know about the H but on my M the Delcos I came up with were all about 25° advance and the old flat top needs about 40° so I have the IH behind my pump to get enough advance.

The IH fits fine behind the pump and I usually pull the distributor to change points so the reduced clearance is not really an issue.
