Loboy electrical problem

When I bought my Loboy 184 a few weeks ago it cranked over fine from the switch. The it got to where it wouldn't start from the switch but cranked over fine by running a jumper cable from the batter straight to the starter so because of that I'm assuming the battery is OK. When I turn the key the starter solenoid just clicks like a lot battery. Checked it out tonight with a volt meter and I only have 6 volts coming from the switch to the solenoid. Its a 12 v system and have 12 volts at the wire going to the switch. Can a bad ignition switch drop the voltage that much. I don't find a voltage drop anywhere else I check. It does have a safety switch on the clutch but when the clutch is not depressed there is no voltage as one would expect.

The common problem is a breakdown in the spade lug connections on the ignition switch. Once the connection begins to breakdown, it heats up, looses tension and corrodes.
I have experienced this on several LoBoys and Cub Cadets. I have replaced mine with a screw terminal switch.

Or, it could simply be that your main battery cable connections are corroded.

Just recently ran across the same problem. We fiddled around with it all day. Everything looked perfectly fine. There wasn't a flake of that white stuff anywhere. All the connections were tight.

Starter turned over fine when we bypassed it with a jumper cable on the positive side. Wiggled the positive battery connection. Nothing. Took it apart. Looked perfectly fine. Put it back together. Nothing. Took it back apart, ran the battery terminal cleaner tool down on the post, and up through the clamp. Put it back together, and it started right up.
