filed down cover.how do you no if leaks or not ...oil pressure still not much better..also how do you know if spring is bad or not....was hard to push down cover getting back on... when first start has 50 lbs i guess ih 0 to 75. gauge..then after 5 mins maybe20 at high idle.. at low idle ..alittle over 0 , on gauge....dewy thanks yall......

Are you sure you dont have a turned down crankshaft, with maybe standard bearings,in it, if the crank has been turned 10 thousands , and the parts man grabbed standard bearing, don't think it has not happened before!!

I diagnosed a leaking oil pump cover by removing the pump from the tractor. Set the inlet screen in the parts cleaner and spin it by hand. Showed up real quick. Planed down the cover and retested. I had better oil pressure but still not right. I found the hole in the oil filter bolt plugged. Cleaned that up and have great oil pressure now.

If that doesn't improve the pressure your motor is probably worn. I have a Super C that runs 10psi hot and 30 cold. It's motor is worn. However it has great power. I suspect it's former owner did an in frame and didn't turn the crank and replace the bearings.

The end clearance on the gears is very tight. .0005" to .001" It can be checked with very thin shims used (on the bench) by placing small pieces of shim on the cover where the pump rotors turn. Start with the .0005", and get thicker by using .001: shims and combinations of shims to determine when it locks up (do not turn it with force, just a little.) To reduce the clearance, the pump housing is surface ground (tiny amounts). The gaskets (from CaseIH) are used to adjust the clearance, they are way thin. The engine oil pressure will be directly affected if much over .001".
The only replaceable bearings are mains and rods and possibly on some the front cam bearing. Cam bearings are not usual issues on these. Jim

dewy, i am curious what u found out, on the low oil pressure issue, all i know there tough but u can ruin a IHC crankshaft, and block !!!
