Cub manufacture date

I have been wanting a tractor that is about my age. I recently bought a cub without a serial tag. The casting dates I have found are july and august 1951. I was born in Oct. 1951, So, would the tractor have been made maybe in Sept.. or Oct. 1951. It would probably be considered a 1952 model. I was just thinking maybe the experts on here would have some idea.

The castings were cured a while before they were machined and used, so it would have been assembled in late 51. Tractors are the year they were made, not a model changeover a few months before like cars.

No way to tell just the day it would have been assembled. I have a B that final drive has a cast code of July 23,1947 and tractor was delevered with in a month of that date. It was purchased for me to help on the farm and it still has original starter and gen, lites ect wiring is still original crank is still in the holder just as when it was new. I still have the grease gun that came in the tool box batt box is still in great condition.

On early tractors the chassis and engine serial numbers matched. If the engine casting numbers and the chassis casting numbers are all 1951 and the engine serial number is 1951 and assume the engine has not been changed, you could declare the tractor to have the same serial number as the engine.
No guarantee, but probably the best guess. As production entered into the mid 50's, matching chassis and engine number went away,

I'm not sure about IH, but John Deere tractors
made late in the year were the following year
model. For instance the 20 series, 520, 620, ect,
the first one's were made in the fall of 1956. All
of the 20 series were 1957 and 58 models, with the
exception of the 420, some of which were made from
late 55 through 58.
