Older Farmall A plow thread

Here's the Farmall A I bought in 1975 with the 16-inch moldboard plow. I had never installed the plow before. Our local IH dealer couldn't help.
I pulled the tractor near the plow and had it installed in a few minutes. All the brackets for mounting the plow were on the plow. The lever for lifting and lowering the plow was on the tractor. So was the lever for tilting the plow point. I thought I reversed the drawbar, but I could be wrong. Hal

If you looked at all the pics that are shown you will see the plows for the A and SA are different and are not interchangeable. You never said for sure is the tractor an A or a SUPER A as the SA does use the hy system where the A does not have the hy system.

MJ, Farmall A's are rare in Holland and I do not know of any with a plow.

Super A's are not common but there are quite a few, some with left and right plows (two way).
As Gene correctly pointed out, the plows for A's are quite different from those for Super A's.

Note: The import and sale of tractors picked up only slowly after the war (and was helped by the Marshall Plan). That, I think, is the main reason that you'll find more Super A's than straight A's. My grandfather bought his first tractor, a Super A, in 1948 or 1949.

Thanks for the infomation Hendrik. Here in the UK we stopped importing American tractors in Sep 1949 when we ran out of Dollars. Also on the 13th Sep 1949 IH produced the first UK built Farmall M tractor. I have got the last American M to come into the UK. My IH collection consists of 1923 10-20, 1940 Farmall BN, 1942 W6, 1945 Farmall H, 2 UK built B250s, B275 and a 1962 B414. The 2 B250s are very early ones with CAV mechanical govened injector pumps and they have serial numbers 549 and 598 the first one being 501 like the American numbers. MJ
