Transmission overservice maybe? Super A

I drained the transmission of some very nasty looking thick as mud lubricant, rinsed it with kerosene and then refilled with 4 quarts of 90 weight oil. I have a pretty good leak now on the left hand axle where the axle housing joins the bull gear. Did I overservice or is there a seal there. I do not see one in the parts manual.

TOO MUCH OIL!!!!!!!
Oil is WAY above the level of the differential shaft seals and thus pouring through them.
Only fill to level as seen by pulling plug on left side right next to brake rod yoke.

A Super A holds 4 1/2 quarts of gear oil in the transmission/differential, 1 1/2 quarts of gear oil in each final drive, and 1 pint of gear oil in the PTO/belt pulley.
For the transmission/differential its best to pull the little fill level plug behind the brake rod, and fill to that level, as stated previously.

Shoulda asked the forum before you made that mistake. I learned the hard way too. You see years and years of thick gummy build up is what has kept those axle seals sealed. I think they were leather seals? I rinsed out a farmall M transmission with diesel after draining the case which was full of thick as mud tranny fluid. big mistake. bad idea. it did a great job at unclogging every gum buildup which was actually keeping everything sealed. After that both axle seals leaked. I will never rinse out the tranny with solvent again, I will simply add new hytran and call it good.

Yup, unless you intend on pulling it apart and replacing every seal, you are much better off leaving sleeping dogs lie.
