I have '54 Super H. It has an overrunning clutch on the PTO shaft. I have a leak and want to replace the PTO shaft seal. I can't figure out how to pull the ORC off of the PTO. It has two zerk fittings which I unscrewed. I can see where a pin should go, down through the PTO shaft but much to my surprise, there was no pin. I can move the ORC, front and back a little bit and it is actually kind of loose, so it isn't froze up with rust. There is no other obvious set screw or pin. I tried encouraging it with a hammer but there is something I'm missing, something is hanging it up. I have the PTO disengaged and I can spin the PTO with ORC on, counterclockwise. When I hold the PTO and turn the ORC, clockwise, it will go a bit and click and then another quarter turn and click again where I can then see through the zerks holes straight through. How does this sum buck come off? Any help or thoughts greatly appreciated. thanks, Chuck

Possibly there is a roll pin, sometimes called a spring pin, that is holding the ORC on the PTO shaft. Roll pins are hollow. You can see right through them. Hammer and an appropriate sized punch will remove it.

Look on ebay for 'roll pin punches'. I bought a set for around $15.00 and they work real good. They are a straight punch with a ball on the end to keep the punch centered in the roll (split) pin. Wish I had known about them years ago. Found out about them on tool talk forum, here.

Thanks Rusty, You were exactly right. I got good
light on it and drove it out with a phillips head
screw driver and a hammer.
