Hello all. first post. apologies if i break a forum rule i'm not aware of ahead of time.
Picked up a tractor. bought it without seeing it run (i know i know). Fuel tank was off, all the way down to the inlet side of injector pump. Pump was froze up apparently. brought it home, tore pump apart, rebuild kit, back together. set engine to TDC according t oscale on crank pulley, and then noticed a scale on the pump itself, apparently you can, after installing the pump, change the advance by up to 12 degrees by rotating the pump???
Anyways, set everything to TDC 0 accross the board, and pulled it around the yard to get the pump charged and confirmation of operation. fuel came out so we said to hell with it, hooked the lines up, and got it to start problem is i am hearing what i imagine are preignition knocks so i shut it right back down again. I imagine the root of my problem here is timing, though i've only had the pump off, and when i took it off the engine was in an unknown state so its not like i could just pop it back together.
If anyone has any information on setting the timing of this tractor i'd be super grateful as currently i have the whats probably the largest flower pot in my community taking up space in my barn otherwise
Also. I noticed that the hydrualics are slowly leaking, and more freightening the steering coloumn where it mounts to the frame is dripping what i assume is hydraulic fluid (is white and very bubbly could be just hydrualic fluid loaded with air as it bubbled through something). I know i can just cap that accessory hydraulic system but the steering provides a bit of concern for me. any information/diagrams on the hydrualic system in this tractor would be infinitely super awesome too
Thanks for your time guys and gals.
