Oil for char-lyn poower-steering

Any one know the correct type of oil for the char-lyn power steering units? Thanks

It uses the same oil that's in your tractor hydraulic system.

I use ATF (or power steering juice if there's any of that handy).

If it is a stand alone unit, probably ATF. If it uses any part of the tractors existing hydraulic system, then you should use the recommended fluids.

For what it's worth, the newly installed Char-Lynn unit on my M seems to be very happy with the "303" universal hydraulic fluid that is in the belt driven, add on, live hydraulic system that runs the everything else.

I've also learned that my ancient cherry picker (engine hoist) is much happier with the 303 fluid instead of ATF.
