560 hydraulic question

560 found it way to my yard. Starts and runs will need engine over hall, But I would like to work the bugs out of the hydraulic's. Power steering works fine, Fast hitch lifts up and goes down when running just fine. When you shut engine down fast hitch drops, will not hold up. Where do I start? and what is involved in this repair? Thanks oldiron29

I'd bet the cylinder needs to be rebuilt. O-ring kit is still available through CaseIH. I think it's around $70 for the kit. They are pretty easy cylinder to rebuild.

J J you think that is all it is? I see no external leaks. I will have to hook the remotes up to disc and see if that holds up. That is great news if you are right. oldiron29

A cylinder can very easily leak internally. Oil goes around the piston.

However, if the hitch is not making occasional "corrections" while the tractor is running, that may not be the issue.

I'm just learning about these myself, but I think there is some sort of two-way check valve that holds the hitch in position, that might be the cause of your leak-down.

Matt, I have been doing alot of reading. Most of what I see has to do with no Hydraulics or no power steering. Both of them are working. Yes there are check valves and by-pass's That need to be checked. oldiron29

Just unhook the hose that is non pressure side of hitch cyl and if oil comes out it is leaking cyl. If oil actually goes back into hose it is the check valve block. This is done while hitch is leaking down, tractor not running of course.

Under the seat is a check valve that prevents the hitch from moving when the engine is not running I'm attaching a few pictures of the valve. The seat has been removed because the steel tubes are leaking and I'm taking them apart for repair. There also is a picture of the cut-a-way of the check valve that I still have from my teaching days. You need to remove this check valve and clean and replace the o-ring on the piston.

Charlie, Thank you for the pictures I will check that out. However This new to me 560 does not have the fast hitch hooked from the under seat valve. It is hooked from left side under dash panel. There are plates on the frame from a loader long gone. Spare set of hose's running to rear from right side for disc or plow I guess.
I bet the valve under seat was not working so PO
hooked fast hitch elsewhere. oldiron29
