Carburetor rebuild woes

Had a bent idle stem and it actually came out just fine, straightened it in vice, then broke putting back in. Good thing I measured the thread when it was out. All measurements said thread was 4-40 but it was real tight so I oiled it, and was still tight. Next time will use 5-40 tap. Taps were only a few dollars at NAPA.
 

The new idle metering jets that come with most kits are not made with greatest of accuracy. It is very difficult to install a new one, even AFTER you have re-threaded the hole with the 4-40 tap. Almost like a 4-40 DIE is also needed to clean up the threads on the NEW metering jet.
