It doesn't matter much as long as the springs buffer the travel a little at wide open, and idle. They can be hardware springs of similar strength.
Slop is the enemy, so pivots points need to be .003 to .005 clearance to assure movement and limit slop.
Even repairing the old one is OK. weld up the holse and drill new ones. Jim

Be aware, that long steel rod from the throttle handle down to the pivot piont, is NOT a rigid steel rod, it is a hollow tube. At least on my 1950 H, it is a hollow tube. Yep, it bends and breaks easy. Can be re-welded with a steel rod placed inside, but it is delicate. Long sad story...

Thanks for the advice. I found out that it was hollow while working on it.. thankfully I didnt damage it. I took the threaded end off and cleaned it up so it is more or less smooth. The lock nut on the end will NOT come off no matter what I do, and the metal is very soft and prone to damage (a pair of pliers tore it all up).

Anyway, I bought some springs and bushings from McMaster-Carr that will work. The fit is very good and hopefully it will work out well. I've had to drill out the pivot in order to get the bushing inserted. I'll upload some pictures when I have some time.

thanks!
