Lp Farmalls

Just got back from Texas after a tractor finding mission. Drug in a 656/450/706/560 and a 340. Several of these run and need good homes. There is very little market here in Pa anymore and I was just wondering what the general consensus is on value?

I live in central Iowa and don't see hardly any LP's here, but there also isn't a demand for them. most everyone I know doesn't want to fiddle with them

I bought a nice running 450 with PS 3pt WFE and perfect tinwork for 1800

picked up my 806LP just for tiling a kitchen and dining room......lol

If you found a 340 LP, that likely be a conversion tractor. IH did not make a 340LPG for normal market sale. Is it a Farmall or International? I have seen one 340U LPG in a collection. Where it was born is unknown.

Aren't you out around Grinell, Iowa? That is my stopping spot on my trip to NE in Nov. We go chase MD around near Ogallala, NE. I'll probably advertise these tractor where they are, cause I don't see a market where in Pa.

Propane tractors in this area were rare except for
a few 706 propane that made it into the area.

I would be interested but my wife told me that if
I brought home another lp Farmall that I would be
sleeping in the shed with the tractors:( So I
guess I can't do it. Hugh

im 25 minutes NE of Des Moines. Grinnell is an hour east of me

Value is where you find it. LP engines burn
clean and will likely be in better conditions
than their gas counterpart. Albeit southern
tractors have a reputation of being run by
hired help. Not always the most careful
operator. Also LP engines are significantly
higher compression and components are in demand
to tractor pullers. Restored LP tractors make
nice show pieces. They add interest in areas
where they are not common. The system is simple
enough once you get over being afraid of it
unlike gasoline, the fuel in the tank never
goes bad. Modern replacement Impco converters
are readily available. The Ensign are no longer
supported.

Don't know serial number, but I will check it and get back to you. Attached is a pic of an M I got near Abilene.

I bought a 450LP sight unseen at an auction in
Craig, Colorado several years ago. Main reason I
bought it is because my dad had one several years
ago. This one has excellent sheet metal for having
a loader on it.

We just don't have that many LP ones back here(SW PA). I wonder
if/what it would take to convert them to CNG? I know thats a long
shot but PA is booming with natural gas and I wonder if you could
convert an old LP to CNG in a simple not too costly measure.

We have a lot of cng cars and pickups here Pa. I can't imagine it would take much to convert one. When you are ready let me know. We have a 450lp/656lp/706lp/560lp/340lp/case 941lp/Oliver S55lp/Mlp in Texas. Delivery to Pa is approx $500 per tractor.
