International 1206

I am restoring an International 1206 Wheatland tractor and have ran across something very interesting. There is a lot of yellow paint under the red paint. I am not sure if that was a primer color or not but I want to know if there is a place like with John Deere's that you can tell by the serial number if it left the factory red or yellow. Thanks for the help.

Nope. IH did not keep any records of what color a tractor was when it left the factory.

This is why there is always such controversy over claims of a tractor being a "White Demo" or a "Gold Demonstrator." IH simply did not seem to care enough to keep robust records, if they kept records at all.

Odds are the yellow is a primer. A yellow 1206 would be a "21206," which should be indicated on the serial tag.

Thanks for that, ther serial number only has:
I 1206 D
8631 S Y

So I know that is was a factory Torque Amp with provision for independent PTO and Hydraulic 12 GPM pump.

From what I have been told the TA was not very common on wheatland models.[/img]

I had a early 65 model 806 that had yellow primer
under very faded red paint. I bought this tractor in
84.

Actually, IH DID keep records, but CASE decided it was not important to keep them, so they were lost.

got a '64 806 that grandpa bought new. there is yellow showing through under the faded red in some places. fuel filter cans, not sure where else?
