Lowboy electrical question

I bought a Lowboy 184 this fall and when I bought it it all turned over and started fine. Now I can't get the starter to turn with the key but if I jump from the battery to the starter it turns over and starts right up so I know the problem is from the switch to the starter. I got it apart and don't get a voltage reading from the switch to the solenoid but at this point I'm not sure I have power to the switch. I ran a wire from the battery to the starter solenoid and all I got was a click like you get with a dead battery. Battery is fine as I said a jumper cable turns the starter with no problem. Does getting a click sound when jumped like that mean the solenoid is bad. I think I may have some other problems as well, possibly with the switch. I'm trying to get this thing figured out so I can order some parts today.

I have gone through 4 or those switches since I got my 154, but the switch itself keeps messing up, as in you turn it to start, it just keeps going and eventually will turn all the way around. You could make a jumper and try and start it at the harness for the switch and see if the switch is the problem.
