A/Super A Carb models and their use

Super A

According to the parts book you could get a Super A with a Marvel-Schrebler, Zenith, or Carter carb. Was there any rhyme or reason to what model was used? For example were certain years more likely to have Marvel, other years Zenith, and others Carter?

thanks,
Al

I think it had to do with the differant companies , having the raw materials, labor, during world war 2, to be a steady supplier.

SA was built 3yrs after the war it must have been a supply thing remember they were building tractors at a hi pace. Other brands used the same carbs and you can only make so many carbs in a certain model thus CARTER and MARVEL made ones that worked for same engine types. There was probably over 100,000 engines built that yr needing same type of a carb.

My Super A is a 1954 and it came with a Carter. It's still on there actually.
