H battery placement

the PO bolted a piece of plywood to the angle bracket to hold the battery. I use a nylon strap to help keep it in place which generally works OK, but with vibration it tends to move around a bit. What do you suggest I do for a better solution. I'm not trying to restore the tractor to original. Just want something solid.

I would have a metal battery box made at your local metal shop. Take the battery along. I would paint the battery box inside and out using a good primer and finish coat of acrylic enamel.

Probably by the time you pay someone to fab a box you could buy a reproduction one that looks original. If you can make it yourself out of some scrap angle iron that's different.

order a replacement from this site, it will fit like it's supposed to. alternate is a plastic boat battery box and strap it or bolt it to your home made bracket

All you have to do is add a shoulder to that chunk of wood so it can't squirm out of place. That is what I did to my brother's H while using it to get ready for his auction. Later on I went through the tractor and did her up right.

Added muffler and grill piece later.
