I picked up this tractor today. Runs, drives and loader is functional. It appears to have no TA from factory. Loader runs off a motor driven pump from the front. I'm not familiar with how the factory hydraulics work. All I know is the pump has lines coming off it going to some box under the seat. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: pics to come tomorrow.

That will do a lot of work. The factory hydraulics are a pilot valve based demand system with a priority valve if it has power steering. The tractor hydraulics are not related to the loader hydraulics. The loader is open center. The levers to the right of the seat (if any) are for the built in hydro. The system applies pressure to attachments/cylinders when the lever is moved off of center.
1200psi max, probably 7 gpm flow. Jim

Thanks Jim. As I dig further into this tractor I'll learn more. I'm familiar with letter series. This tractor is very difficult to steer. How could I tell if it was supposed to have power steering? Thanks.

The steering wheel is plastic and has an emblem in the center if power. if manual. it is plain like an h Jim

(quoted from post at 18:35:11 10/17/14) That is a really King Kong hydraulic system!

I'm excited to see how well it powers my log splitter. Tractor already has the quick disconnects for it.

Those are naturally a hard steering tractor with out power steering and it gets a lot worse with a loader and a full bucket.

Jackson Power Steering company is reputable and worth the money to fix that issue. Their system is far better than Original 300/350U power steering. Jim

Do you have any more info on this power steering company? Costs? Thanks.

(quoted from post at 04:17:13 10/18/14) That is quite a hitch on the back. Is it a three point hitch or something else?

It looks like the hookup for a backhoe that it had. Going to replace the links with 3 point links.

Just check the site. There adjustments on the box, a good manual will explain. The adjustments do little to make it easier. most of the slop comes from a worn pin on the sector that tracks in a worm groove. they can be built up and made close to new, but even new they steer very hard. Our 350U has PS from the factory and it is not as delightful as the Jackson system. Jim

HI here's my 2 cents, I have a 300U about like yours. Did 50 odd years cleaning up demo derbys at the county fair (Madison Cnty, NY-longest contiously running cnty fair in the country).
After replacing/checking all the front ends parts, I accidently discovered the steering box is coming apart. That is, the bolts are wollarded out so that the right half rotates about 1 1/2 inches up in right hand turn. Which means in a right hand turn the 'toe in" goes to about 8 inches. Very tuff !
So check that.
ps is that back hoe mount for sale?

my 2 cents part 2 - my machine had a big cement block mounted on the rear end. I got the mount and loaded it with old F&H weights, and railroad rails to about 1200 lbs and it was manageable. I have since come into a fork lift frame which I have mounted and with forks, I can load and un-load weight as needed to drive, or just a handy way to move stuff around. I suggest you use the backhoe frame to build that; or see if you can find a bobcat fork rig that can be adapted to your back how mount.
I have a 350U with front loader and full on back hoe. It drives nicely as there is a lot of rear end weight.
I hope that helps.

I'm gonna keep the mount because I'll have my ear to the ground for a backhoe.
