I just purchased a international 2444 trying to get info on the serial numbers can anyone help or decode? HH304048R2 the number on the serial plate is 00745 ?

The "304048R2" is an IH part number. If it came off the serial plate it is the part number for the serial plate.

2444 (Industrial model) might share its serial number sequence with the 444 (Farm model). If so the 00745 indicates a 1967 model according to the "Serial Numbers" section linked in the home page of this website.

The later industrial models (i.e. 1959-ish and newer) are kind of the "red headed step children" in the tractor collecting hobby. They were made in much smaller numbers compared to farm tractors and unlike previous industrial models, have many more specialized parts unique to the industrial models. Unlike the more common farm tractors, parts support for the specialized parts of industrial models is not nearly as good. There were never as many of them around so there aren't nearly as many in the junkyards to scavenge for parts, either.

If you start out with a good solid tractor and treat it well you've got nothing to worry about.

Mine is a bit newer, made in 68. Not much different between the 444 and the 2444. The front axle is the biggest difference. The 2444 has a swept back non-adjustable axle while the 444 had straight axles with a choice of adjustable or non-adjustable. The swept back axle gives the the tractor a shorter turning radius but the trade off is that there is a lot more weight on the axle when used with a loader.

Other options for the 2444 include a front crankshaft mounted hydraulic pump, foot throttle, or industrial grill. Most options were available for either tractor.
