Yes the B engine is in fact a wet sleeve engine and yes if the o-rings at the bottom of the sleeves are bad they will cause that problem

Been a while since I built my BA so can not say yes or no but do know it is a wet sleeve engine and when I did that engine I did it as old school as I could and use as few new parts as I could. The BA still purrs like a kitten and that is after at least 5 years since I built it. I.E. Old school as in using as many used parts as I could including the head gasket

My B has been in family since new and been overhauled three times and they are wet sleeved with O ringd.

You need to remove the pan so you can see the bottom of the sleeves it mite take a day or so for coolant to show. The head gasket can also let coolant into the oil thats why removing pan you can determine if one of the rubber rings at the bottom of the sleeve is the culprit or head gasket. Usually if its the head gasket problem will be at the rear. If its the rubber ring in the sleeve it can take some time to show that you can see and it will usually be only one that leaks.

A sleeve O-ring that leaks will be around the outside of the bottom of the sleeve. A head gasket leak can either come down on the inside of the sleeve if it leaks into the compression chamber or down past the push rods and oil drain holes.

My apologies, my B engine was so bad , i knew it needed machine work, so i sent it into a machine shop, looked at it when it was apart,But admit i didn't know it had those O rings.

Tried him to join this forum to get good advice of his problem.
But is a Old College Professor unable to take advice.
So now has decided not to remove pan but to pour radiator sealer around the sleeves and use old gasket and put on the head.
So not to keep you all from wondering what was done decided to let you know what has happened.

I have dealt with those type many times and it will not be long before he is coming back and asking for help. Used head gasket unless you know the trick will not work and the sealer well maybe but not likely

Thanks old I had a job in the Army as emergency repairman on Stand/by generators and anything else that failed just because the operator just didn't want to take time to drain water out of fuel.
So the whole site was down waiting for some one to change fuel filters on engine.
And the Officer in charge unable to understand what was happening.
Educated beyond there ability.

I would lean toward the head gasket being the culprit. That tractor deserves to be fixed correctly so if he hasn't poured the liquid stuff into it yet try again to convince him otherwise. A head gasket is $30 and 3 hours of your time if you've never done it.

Well, you did all you could do...
Tell him to put a drainvalve on the oilpan plug to drain the water out everyday before he starts it.....he will need it :)
Though possible, chances are very slim that the old HG will seal again.
Stopleak?...for a HG leak or a leaking o-ring. very doubtful.
Usually an inch of sediment is at the bottom of the water jacket around the sleeves.
very efficient 'filter'. The water will make it thru, but the sediment will filter out the stopleak 'particles'.....fail

I am very surprised to read of the wet sleeves! I always believed that all letter series tractors had dry sleeves. I even had a B years ago, but never got into the engine.

Yep now days there are a lot of educated fools in the world and it is getting worse not better. Kid in the school are no long taught reading write and math they are taught computers which does all that for them
