h farmall sickle bar mower

Several mowers fit on an H. They include fully mounted to the frame mowers, with the bar in front of the right rear tire, to simi-mounted mowers (bolted to the drawbar loop with a trailing wheel), to full trailing mowers that hook to the tractor with a single hitch pin and the PTO. Each is different, each has different difficulty of installation. all mow the grass. Jim
 
I would advise a full trailing mower. If he hooks and un-hooks very much, he will be glad of it. They ussally cost more money to acquire but worth it. I would never go back to a mounted mower, or a semi-mounted mower as far as that goes. If he leaves it on year round, I guess it wouldn't matter much. But I use a wide variety of different implements and changing them all the time.
 
Ken, How much is an h sickle bar mower worth? I might know where one is. I could find out for sure, if you would like. ephhs
 
To help you a bit in your search, there isn't any specific mower for the Farmall H, and many people won't advertise mowers specifically for a Farmall H.

A very handy tool for local searches is "searchtempest DOT com" You plug in your zip code and what you're looking for, and it searches all the local craigslists within however many miles you choose for your item. "sickle mower" always yields several good hits for me.

On mounted mowers there were/are two types. One bolts to the U-shaped drawbar. The other attaches to the axles in place of the U-shaped drawbar. They will fit any H or M sized tractor, up through the 460/560.
