6v generator question

does anyone know what the field coil total resistance in ohms should be for a 6v 3 brush externally grounded generator ? Thanks

No specs or data here, but a pure GUESS for an old 6 volt tractor generator would be the series sum of the two field windings would be in the vicinity of 1.5 to 3 ohms. They must obviously be continuous with a good series tie connection and NOT have continuity to the case. Best I have to offer based on NO information or data, so no warranty or dont anyone have a calf if its incorrect.......

We need to know the model number to be more precise but here are the specs for a couple different ones used on an H. The resistance is not give, just the amperage draw so you will have to calculate the ohms.

# 1100501 Spec # 1778; 10 - 13 amps; 7 volts; field coil draw 2.5 - 2.72 amps.

# 1101355 Spec # 1651; 13 - 16 amps; 7 volts; field coil draw 3.5 - 4.5 amps.

My somewhat "educated but rusty guess" was based on the fact typical genny field currents may be in the 2 to 4 amp range, which translates to 1.5 to 3 ohms on a 6 volt genny (which may have an output of 6.5 to near 7).

Great minds think alike Eh Jim ??? lol
