Super C update and issue

Got the Super C running yesterday after a complete overhaul. So happy to here her run again, first time since July 3. Last week i was trying to get it started and there was no gas reaching the cylinders. So after cleaning the carb a few times i got a carb overhaul kit, hardware/float set. Zenith carb. It runs smooth at all rpms, but over half throttle it will die after about ten seconds. Again it runs smooth until it hiccups and instantly dies. I am thinking that the timing is correct and that the gas is cutting out. The IT manual doesnt show anything on carbs, was really dissappointed in it. Is the small screw coming out the front at an angle the idle air speed screw, and the screw coming out the bottom front the rich/lean adjustment? This is an elementary question, i just cant get it to run right. Is there anything else that could be causing this? I have about an hour or so logged on it already driving on the driveway at low and midrange rpms.

The carb kit should have had jet setting instructions/suggestions.You're on the right track.Running too lean.Play with the screws a bit.....Open the bottom screw aturn or two at a time.

Check the fuel supply to the carb. Undo the plug in the bottom and let the gas drain through. Should have a good flow. Once I had a piece of gas cap gasket stopping the flow at the sediment bowl.

If you have a lower screw you have a distillate/kerosene carb, the gas carb has a bolt over the jet. If the screw is there turn it out a little at a time. I don't know if putting a gas kit in a distillate carb makes a difference, I doubt it. Instructions for adjusting the carb should be in the operators manual.

As been mentioned you need to open that main jet adjusting screw. My garden tractor and Toro mower have that same feature to enrich the fuel mixture. Hal
