Thanks for the tips on my W9 clutch. Another question. I would like to change from a mag to a distb. Will any international distb. work?

Thanks Howard

With most IH gasoline engine distributors, the rotation is CW. I think the rotation of the gasoline 9 series is the same as the Diesels. The real issue is advance amount at RPM. Your mag system is set for a maximum advance based on the fuel at the time, and is intended to create reasonable power. The true maximum advance will be in most cases a little farther along due to higher octane today (in regular 87 R+M/2 ratings)
Some distributors are designed for the gas start Diesel tractors, these are CCW distributors, however they have very limited advance.
Best is to find a distributor from a 9 series gasoline engine. (IIRC) Jim

Howard - What JimN says!

A W9 distributor rotates is opposite all the other IHC gas tractor distributors.

An IHC gas-start diesel distributor CAN work. But the advance curve will be all wrong for your engine. This can result in loss of power, increased fuel consumption, risk of burned exhaust valves, etc.

Your best bet is to try to locate a W9 distributor.
