Siezed Super WDR-9

Hey fellas looking for a few answers from a few more
experienced then me. I recently bought a Super WDR-9 at a
farm auction in southern Saskatchewan I paid maybe more
then I should have but the tractor belonged to my uncle and
grandpa so has some value to me that way. Anyways it is
siezed it was in the Quonset for the last 30+ years that I can
remember. What's the best way to get oil to the cylinders? Will
it get in there just by putting it in the spark plug holes ? I filled
exhaust manifold with diesel atf mixture. Nice tractor though
straight most of the way around but boy it's a heavy bugger!
Any tips from the pros would be much appreciated!

what i do on the gas start diesels, blow it in with a parts washer nozzle. the kind you put the hose in a jug and run the air threw it and it sucks the oil up the hose into the cyl's.
diesel is pretty useless for that. even if you mixed the atf with wd40 is better. or just straight atf. filling the exhuast will work also on the cyl's with open vales.
yes has to be in gas mode, lever up when doing this. i also have a Super WDR9. am in alberta.
post a pic.
best to pull the starter off and get in there with a prybar and you can pry against the ring gear teeth. this does more than rocking tractor or using crank. you will need to be patient as this can take weeks and weeks. i dont do the waiting, i just pull the head off and clean the rust out with a hone. and a block of wood the same size as piston and give them a smack with a sledge. thats if they dont come loose in a week.

That's probably what I'll do is pull the head when I get it home, what are the odds this engine will be salvageable ? Apparently the parts are rare as a three dollar bill? From what I can find on tractor data there was only 370 or so of these built does that sound right? I will take some pictures and post them when I figure out how to put them on this site. Thanks for the help!

Auto Trans fluid and acetone 50/50. Cheap and works ........
Check it out..........possibly the best there is.....
Remove all spark plugs and fill them up. Replace plugs and fill up exhaust system.
Remove oil plug from engine oil pan so as to let everything and anything drain.

I use acetone and atf ,mostly acetone , my thought is you want it to go by the rings so thinner is better , wait 20 minutes and take half of a pto shaft "the part between tractor and implement" put on tractor pto with joint positioned so that it locks and use it as a pry bar with pto engaged

In addition to what was posted below, when you pull the starter off and pry against the ring gear teeth with a BIG prybar(I used a 5ft long spud bar), pry it opposite of normal engine rotation.

An old mechanic told me this trick and using it along with a few cans of penetrating oil shot through the plug holes I had my 650D unstuck the first day I had it home.

As long as the block, head, and crank are alright it is fare to say the engine is salvageable cosidering you can find parts. The less you need the better. I have seen locked engines go either way. I have got locked engines running again with no part replacement needed. But I have tore down locked engines where there was no hope to get running again. On the upside, odds are a little in your favor since it was shedded. Especially if it was running when parked in there. My 2 cents.

Would you trade for a running SWD9? That would save you all that trouble!!ha ha ha. I happen to have an extra one.

What is the difference in a Super WD-9 and a Super WDR-9? Seems like I should know, but we have M, MD and MTA.

Thanks,
Garry

My understanding is the Super WDR-9 is hand clutch
and Super WD-9 is foot clutch. I have lots of
hours on a WDR-9 with hand clutch and assume Super
WDR-9 is the same except for a little more horses.

Thank you very much for your help! I Pulled the valve cover today so I could open the exhaust valves and get more ATF and Howes diesel fuel conditioner into the cylinders, I'll let it works it's Magic for a bit maybe try pulling the starter off and barring it over, I've got a 15 hour drive ahead of me do if nothing else I may leave the chains a bit loose and let it rock in high gear I've heard this may work also. It's all learning for me so I guess we'll see.

Haha had circumstances been different I would take you up on your offer, this tractor has been in my family for 50+ years otherwise I wouldn't mess with it I'm afraid, I've still got a w-400 diesel at home and a super C patiently waiting for some attention.
