464 Remote Lever Stuck

Hello Everyone,

Have a 464 with a single remote unit. Have been having problems with the 3 pt being slow. Works fine when remote lever is pulled up slightly or pushed down slightly, then returned to neutral. Or wait a minute or so for the 3 pt lift to operate. Will lift heavy equipment once it "starts to lift" without any problem. Have to increase rpms though.

Now the remote lever (or it's spool) seems "locked in" neutral. Can't move the lever up or down. Some looseness in the lever (normal for this tractor), but spool will not move.

Thank you for your time. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Found my problem!

Removed the remote valve assembly. Found a piece of "curled wire like" metal in the spool area (larger valve block center hole). Removed metal. Took a while!!! Re-installed valve assembly. Started engine. Let run long enough to purge the air from hydraulic system. Valve lever now moves smoothly from neutral to upper position and back to neutral. Same for the lower position.

Took the valve body to local Case IH dealership. Mechanic (IH experienced) "looked at" the metal. Couldn't determine what the metal was or exactly "where it came from".

I think the "larger center hole" is the fluid input. Still do not know what the metal might be. Or how it "got to" the valve spool.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Very good site and forum. Excellent resource. Use it a lot. Have two older IH diesel tractors.
