Farmall H belly pump run a log splitter?

Right now I run a log splitter off a char Lynn pto pump. I think it's 1000 psi. How would the belly pump of my H perform compared to the char Lynn? Can the psi of the belly pump be increased? What's the flow rate?

i think the belly pump puts out about 800 psi or so. no way to really increase the operating pressure. the char lynn power pack would prolly be your better choice. i have an m with a 9 spped in it, i have run the belly pump on a splitter in high range with low throttle, but it wasnt the best. i use a farmall b with a 2200 psi prince pto pump now on my splitter, does a way better job.

A belly pump *WILL* run a log splitter, if you don't care how fast it goes and only split straight-grained wood.

It depends on what you want. If you're older and don't move so fast speed may not matter. If you're younger and you want to bust up as much wood as quickly as possible to get the job done, you will not be happy with the belly pump.

If you have the Charlynn pump, use it. It is about twice the PSI and twice the GPM of the belly pump.

Interesting concept. When I was MUCH younger, I could split firewood with a splitting maul, almost as fast as with a hydraulic log splitter. Not today. Today, the hydraulic splitter sounds like too much work.
