Trying to install distributor. Have the flywheel marks lined up. Manual shows to put rotor toward number one position to install distributor into housing. Where is the number one position? What mark am i looking for?

looking at the rotor as a clock, number one is in about the 2 o clock position. It should have number 1 marked on your cap also.

You need to have to have No1 piston near the radiator at TDC on the compression stroke. An easy way to do that is to hold your thumb over the plug hole while a helper slowly hand cranks the engine. Once you feel compression against your thumb drop along plastic straw on top of the piston. Then have the helper slowly crank the engine while you watch the straw rise. When it quits rising your piston should be at TDC. Rotate the rotor on the distributor until it's in the one O'clock area and install it. It should be pointing to your No1 plug tower on the cap.

Your plug wires on the cap should be in this firing order.
2-1
4-3 As the rotor rotates CW.
