Ready to add another circuit to my cub and have a question while I am gathering parts, what size is the allen screw that taps into the pressure line on the hydraulic block? (upper left hand side)
getting ready to split the tractor for some clutch work and being I have to remove the hydro block thought it was time to kill two birds with on gasket
Thanks for your help.
Bruce.

Ok, thanks. Looking forward to being able to angle my blade
without having to get off the tractor, I'm not sure if I'm getting
lazy in my old age or wiser? LoL

Thanks John, I was guessing the 1/4" npt, but wasn't sure. I'm going to split my 55 cub this weekend and check clutch and TO bearing. I figured while I was that far into her I'd add my block and have another circuit, made a bracket to mount control valve last night using the base of the steering post, starting to come together and hopefully have her completed before the snow falls.
Thanks, again, Bruce.

(quoted from post at 22:22:05 09/25/14) According to my manual that is 1/8 pipe thread. At least that is what the service manual says you need to connect a pressure test gauge to it.
Must have misunderstood the original question. My answer was what size allen wrench to remove the plug.

Not a problem Denny, I have been hitting the 3/16 allen screw with PB Blaster for the last week, thought I'd try it before I snap the head and end up wiyh another phase of a project.
Thanks for the replies guys.
I've been Lurking for a while learning on the Cub.
Ben on another part of this site for a few years.
That would be an Allis Chalmers.....don't throw rocks! LOL
Bruce.

hadn't checked the allen wrench size, but was wondering if that was your reason for the answer.

Those allen screws are really tough, and really tight. I have never heard of anyone breaking one of them, but have known of the allen wrenches being broken while trying to remove them. I use an allen wrench with a 3/8 sockett drive and a small impact.

Besides penetrating oil, another tip that might help is to find a good, stout punch that just fits into the Allen wrench hole. Give it a dozen smart raps with a hammer before you ever inert he allen wrench. It may help to jar the threads loose. If anything is gonna give, it will be the internal head of the bolt splitting, allowing the wrench to slip. Use a new, name brand wrench, or at least make sure the wrench you have is in PERFECT condition.
If you can give the Allen wrench some help with an additional vise-grip around the outside, along with the Allen wrench inside, you might increase your torque before the head splits. Good luck!
