Gasoline manifold, first used on real late M tractors, then SM and SMTA. Then used as a replacement manifold for all the above until the next IH designed type that worked on the tractors came along.
Also used on early SM LP tractors.

That's a stock SM/SMTA manifold. It's the same as on both my late '53 gasoline Super M's.

A stock LP manifold is a 2-piece affair with separate intake and exhaust runners. There is no "hot spot" connection between the intake exhaust runners like on yours.

Aftermarket on the 264 and the type used on most all M gasoline tractors on the 281.
281 gasoline fuel is the picture I put on your post a few days ago with the three ribs from the intake runner to the exhaust side, along with a picture of the IH type LP manifold used on all 400 and 450 and some SM tractors.
This is the one used on 400 tractors when new.
Could be a small overlap at the beginning or end of 400 production with other types.

Ive got one on my SMTA thats different than all of your guy's pictures. Its not 2 piece, but nearly,There is only 3 narrow veins of cast iron in the middle holding things together AND LETS AIR FLOW BETWEEN THEM and hollow between them, and has a really wide flat top on the exhaust. It is designed to keep the intake air cool and get rid of a lot of exhaust.

Too Far Gone, that's what came on 450 gasoline tractors originally. Then sold by IH as a replacement manifold for M on up when they were still IH. Few were still left around at some dealers in the eighties.
Same one you have is pictured along with the LP type used on 400 and 450 and SM serial number 25932 and higher in another post a few pages back started by the same poster that started this post.
Before the serial number above SM LP used manifold 8035DD the same as a gasoline. They have a different part number listed some places # 357049R91, but that's just because a fitting or something was included with it.

D,Thanks for replying. That makes a lot of sense. This tractor had a complete new engine in 1972.Everything was dated internally.I still have the dated 1972 block and crank.I used a 264 block with 281 bore and stepped head M & W Pistons with new rings and 8060 DC Head planed just a couple thousandths. Its got tons of power.Cant wait to get it on a good pull!
