hello i have a farmall m it is either a 51 or 52 and i am in the process of ordering a piston and sleeve kit and i was wondering on the kit they say for engines with serial number over . . . . well what i was wondering was where do i find this serial number i have three motors and they all say 6722 dj on them with the exception of one that says 6722de on it my question is can i put 4.125 inch pistons in any of them?
i have a set of m and w add power pistons with a sleeve with an outside diameter of 4.225 could i use these in any motor that has not been machined?

Go back about 4 pages and look for what block is in my 48 M. In one of the posts I told him where to look for the serial number.
Reason for the serial number break is the crankshaft bearings were changed to a different size. If just getting pistons and sleeves you don't need to worry about the serial break.
Since crankshaft could be replaced with a later one sometime or turned down from standard it pays to check for sizes wanted before ordering. Really should measure the journals for wear.
Those are standard M blocks and they came with about a 4.125 bore size before the sleeve was installed.

Engine serial number should be hand-stamped into a flat spot on the block below the #1 spark plug, IIRC.
