My previous post concerned the ventilation hole that's is supposed to be there - thanks.

I took the head off and here's what it looks like inside my '41H.

Shown are cylinders 2 (on the right) and 3 (on the left). Cylinders 1,2, and 4 look as if they have limited or no use. No 3 shows oil coking.

Cylinders 1,2, and 4 can be rocked about .003-.008 side to side. My current finances will only cover the head rebuild (I've got at least 2 burnt exhaust valves from my quick visual)

#2 doesn't look right either. It should not be washed clean like that. Why didn't you drain the block before pulling the head?
