I was at an estate auction a few miles up the road today and there was quite a bit of IH stuff. The bachelor had moved to the nursing home a number of years ago and his equipment has set idle since. So, none of the tractors were currently running. There was a nice looking, late model 656 gasser with a very nice 1701 loader that rang the bell at $11,500. I couldn't believe that price for a non-running tractor - maybe some family members were battling it out. Other sales which seemed high for non-runners were a 200 for $3400 and a 300 RC wide front for $2000. He also had an 856 with 24.5-32's but I didn't catch what it brought. A local IH collector paid $900 for a nice 403 open-station combine just to keep it from going to the scrapper who had the second to last bid. My only buy was a Fast Hitch sickle mower for $75; needs a pitman and belt but otherwise it looks decent.

I wouldn't mind having a 200 or a SC with Fast Hitch, but $3400????? No way! Must have been restored. I don't remember seeing this auction advertised, who was the auction company?

It was a Van Schmidt auction. Surprisingly, the
200 was in its "barn clothes". It had straight
tin, good tires, and fenders were included
(unmounted) but other than that it wasn't anything
special.
