706 propane

My neighbor has a 706 propane;when he changed oil recently,1/2 gal of clear water came out of the oil pan. It was not antifreeze,he has good green coolant in it.The tractor sets out all the time,so could that much rain accumulate in the oil pan in ,say, a year? There is an oil leak from a cover on the side of the engine, so could rain leak in where oil leaks out? Thanks ,Mark

Not through that oil leak, but through uncovered muffler, or if muffler covered, the threads on exhaust pipe. LP is particularly tough on manifolds and those pipes come loose on gasoline engine as well. Condensation of course adds to it also.

Mark, If this tractor sits out all the time it is possible to gain that much water through condensation and run through!
More Importantly, Drop the pan! on that 263, Bet you will find 1/2 in.+++ of what we call "Black cream cheese" this nastiness in the bottom of the pan. Also the Screen will probably be half stopped up too.!!!!
I bought a 656 LP 3 yrs ago , it had sat out for a minimum of 4 yrs. Had not been started or run! Hauled it home on a Slide Truck. Where I Unloaded it is where I worked on it. Knew It wasn't stuck for I could move the engine by pulling on the fan blades.
An Old man who owned it had died, and No one had touched it of the 4 yrs, We were in, still in a Drought just not very much rain when it fell! But temperature change, condensation had put that much water in my tractors engine I dropped the pan, washed it out, Dropped the oil pump and washed it out too. Gave me a chance to inspect the bottom end of the Engine to see if there was anything Obviously wrong, or amiss!
Reinstalled the Oil pump and Pan and went on with my task of bringing this tractor back to the land of the Living!
My point is If this tractor has sat out a lot! Drop the pan Wash it, and the oil pump out inspect the bottom side. It will make you happier about the engine in the long run!
