I need to replace the coil on my 504 utility. Is there anything special about this coil that would require it to come from a CaseIH dealer, or would a generic 12 volt coil work in this tractor.

I believe the coil is a 12v with external resistor required. the ignition wire from the key is a resistor. The starter relay has a bypass to gve starting voltage to the coil. check the wiring diagram. either way, a non stock coil is fine.Jim
