IH 584 throttle

Hello, I have a 584 that has been out in the open a summer. We have had a lot of rain here this summer and I did not have cover for it.

The problem: I can move hand throttle from idle to wide open, but when I pull back the throttle the engine remains at high RPM. I have sprayed lube on all joints that I can see but it has not helped. The tractor has factory cab.

I can pull the throttle cable back to idle on the side of injection pump.

The tractor worked OK but was parked for 4 months and now this has developed.

Any ideas on repair

Thanks in advance.

You didn't say what kind of lube you used,if it was WD40 you need to put another lubricant on the moving linkage.I would think that would solve your problem

If it's a "Canadian market tractor" the factory cab is a SIMS and the throttle etc is identical to the open/rops tractors.

With the right hand door open and the access plate off the side of the cowl (three bolts above the brake pedals) you should see all the linkage for the hand and foot throttle. The cab may block some access.

Seems to me your problem will likely be in there since that is where the two controls link yet operate independent, Tractor may think foot feed is still wide open...

Even the old 3 in 1 oil is better than WD40 [my opinion]. Many
products like Blaster, CRC 5-56, Lubriplate work fine too.
