Anyone want to walk me backwards through this successful repair?
Super A running rough and hot. Decided the problem was fuel supply and cleaned sediment bowl, elbow screen and switched out carb for recently rebuilt one. After a some tinkering on the ignition side of things I thought to blow out the sediment bowl from the tap. That's where the main problem was.
Anyway I also refurbished the ignition which was not a bad thing to do. The point contact in the distributor was cooked (and I mean cooked) and also there was quite a bit of play in the distributor shaft. Fixed that up.
My lingering question is: why was the contact in the distributor cooked? Could it be because the tractor ran lean for too long or was that problem because of a bad coil (or condenser) and therefore unrelated? Or some other reason?
