'44 H not getting fuel

I have a "44 H which ran great all summer. Last weekend I was out on a ride and it hesitated and then quit. It appeared that it wasn"t getting fuel, so I replaced the in-line fuel filter, blew out the sediment bowl filter and tried to start it again - nothing. I removed the fuel line at the carburetor connection and I am getting fuel running out with no problem. When I reconnect it, fuel flow stops. I"m guessing a carburetor issue, but I don"t have enough experience with carbs to diagnose this on my own, any suggestions?

Thanks.

There is a screen inside the fitting that you removed the line from, you might look at it.
