Super C Rebuild

Passing allot of smoke and running rough. Appears time to me. I would be interested in opinions on in frame rebuild versus splitting the tractor.

Split the tractor and do it right. The block is the frame on a Super C, if you don't split it you can't get the flywheel off, get the crank out of it to polish the journals and replace the main bearings, or renew the clutch.

Yup, kinda dumb question I suppose. Probably not that much more work. Was thinking bout mic rod journals for an indication how things are, winter project, tks

How do you mike the mains when its in the tractor. I would by all means remove engine so you can get the crank checked out. Its just easier to work on them with engine on a stand.

With a special micrometer.

I had a mechanic working for me at one time that has one. It is in the shape of a V with the micrometer spool located in the angle. With the insides of the V against the shaft you turned the anvil in to touch the shaft and read the results on the barrel.

have never seen another one not I have I seen them advertised anywhere.
