Farmall 400 Diesel ?

It's worth a quite bit more, if the oil in the injection pump reservoir has been maintained, than one that has been neglected !!

Like mentioned below- new tires can cost about what the tractors worth, so tire condition is a huge factor.

Does it have power steering? Fast Hitch? Wheel weights? Rims that aren't rusty? No major leaks? Have T/A and if so is it in good working order? PTO work good? Clutch and brake pedals in nice shape or bushings worn out and sloppy? Transmission work smoothly through all the gears with no more than the "usual" gear noise? Anything major been cobbled up or welded? Hydraulics work good? Usually on these tractors "nice paint" is the last of what a person is concerned with when determining price. The more info you can provide the better and pictures are a huge plus so that'll help when you can post a pic.

What part of the country you're in makes a difference too.

Price range from your brief description could be anywhere from about $900 to $4000, depending on above, but for a decent, honest, usable tractor I'd guess around $2500-$3000 in most parts of the country from a private party. $1000 more on up if it's on a dealer's lot.

Shoot, just looked back and from your handle I'd guess the tractor is in WI....probably should be close to what I estimated though. You can check the tractor house website to see what they're listed for in your area.
