I have a 39 H that has two different length axles. The axle on the belt pulley side is about 6 inches longer than the other. Is this correct or did someone change it out? Thanks, Mark.
 
Sounds like a wide tread axle in one side and a regular one in the other side. If 4 inches difference one could be a real late H or a SH one.
 
If your H was used in Sugarbeet harvesting country, the mounted beet harvester needed the right side axle to be longer in order to have the rear wheel far enough out to straddle the machine. Could be the reason...
