So I put the 167 spring in my super m governor, man did it make a difference. Would someone explain to me how? I figured a shorter spring but I have it figured bass akwards I guess

Springs that are stiffer/longer force the flyweights to move faster before they start to close the throttle. Thus faster engine speed. Jim

The 167 is a little longer than the one I took out, I have a 166 that is the same length. I wonder what the same length but stiffer would do?

If it is for that engine, one answer is to find the part number/length and find the RPM that engine application is used for. Be careful, engine speed on tractors is a time bomb and reduces life expectancy if more than 15% overclocked. (unless internal changes have been made for pulling or other performance apps. Jim
