behlen power steering

I installed a behlen p/s unit with correct touch control and regulator on a farmall 300. Gauge pressure is 950-1000 psi. The unit has no assist to the left and very little assist to the right. I,ve dissambled the unit and found nothing wrong. Can some one provide me info or a name that works on these units.

Old info May not be any good anymore
My PS sucked for a while, after I replaced a seal or two. But eventually it started to work better. It still does not work perfectly all the time, but it works well most of the time.

does the powersteering work if you hold the lever for the remote against pressure like when the cylinder goes to the end of the stroke? if so there is a plug missing in the system but we will figure it out later it this test is conclusive

Thanks for your reply. I left the pressure gauge between the regulator and power head. Pressure reading was very low and sporatic to the right 150-200psi to the stop and back to netural. Gauge read 0 at netural. It was 0 to the left stop and back. Holding against the lf. or rt. stops made no difference in readings. I replaced all o rings and frt seal. I removed the hi pressure hose at the power head and the spool was centered in the hole. The tractor has quick hitch and will lift the rear wheel off the ground on down draft. I mentioned pressure reading is 950-1000 psi full throttle

Thanks for your reply. I,m confused about "holding the lever against the remote".
I left the pressure gauge between the regulator and power head, gauge reads 0 at netural, gauge reads sporatic 100-200 psi to the rt. to the stop and back, gauge reads 0 to lf. stop and back. Holding against the stop lf.or rt. makes no pressure change.

If the steering were to all of sudden work when the remote valve was held against the relief pressure valve that would could mean your flow divider isn't working right or the oil has an easier path through the open center remote valve than to the power steering when the flow divider was added the remote valves had to be removed and a plug put in one of the ports to stop oil flow and then the remotes received their flow threw the "J" shaped pipe off the flow divider to the number 1 (left) valve or right handle controlled. this valve is different when you have the flow divider for PS than when you don't. what happens to the pressure gauge when you raise your fast hitch and continue to hold the lever does the pressure spike up?
hope this clears it up a little.
