Seat part on Super C

This small spring-post is from the front (hinge) end of the seat support on a 1954 Super C. It has a little cup on the top that looks like it may have once held a rubber bumper or something. Can anyone verify that this is true, and if so how thick/what shape should the bumper be?

I have a replacement seat spring and shock-absorber, but this little post looks important too.

Thanks,

That post is what holds the fore/aft position for the seat. There is no "rubber bumper".The washer is just a handle to lift with. Buy a spring at a hardware store.

Hey Aaron, that is the spring loaded adjustment pin, pull it up and slide the seat forward or back on the seat base.
