Charging Problem

My 39 M I converted to 12 volt years ago and worked great, I bought an alternator conversion kit from Martins Equipment, great kit with brackets, and coil, at first it charged great now I can"t get it to charge. Yesterday I was pulling a tree limb and when I took the slack out of the chain the bump of starting to pull had it charging again, I checked for loose wires and bad connections but have not found any. I removed the resistor when I put the new kit in because I used the 12 volt coil with the kit. Thanks for all your help!! Binderman

What alternator does it have?? If it has a Delco 1 wire yep common thing to happen with them they charge when they want and not when you want them to. If a 3 wire loose wire or bad connection or the brushes could be getting old and worn

Thank you for all your help on this! It quit charging again after I posted message yesterday, it is a 3 wire alternator, I wiggled everything and no luck, so I pulled in the shop removed everything and rewired the whole thing works great, not sure what to think, running good this morning, thank you again, Have a great Weekend!!
