Alright so next year im thinking about buying a IH tractor, looking at the 1060. Just b/c i want to get a tractor that can just about do anything i want. For what i will be doing with it will be making food plots. Size are from one acre strips to 10 acres.
Plus those tractor look good to me,haha and I also work for International Trucks. If you all were looking for a IH tractor what tractor would you like to get. I like the way the 1060 look and it does not have to be a 100Hp tractor.

If you all have a IH, mind telling me what you love about it and dont like about it.

Model/type

Have 15 tractors of four different colors, but the 826 International is the best of the bunch. Power galore, easy on fuel, the most user friendly tractor ever built , 16 gears, shifts with ease either hand, throttle with either hand, handles the best, 3-point is just better than any of the green 3-pts,much easier to hook up to implements.

So if you all were going to buy a tractor would you all buy a 30-40 hp tractor for 18k or buy a older more hp ih ?

Also why should I stay above 706 as being the good tractor?? The lower tactor not very good ?

I know 2 guys that do food plots... both have 100 hp +/- a little tractors, both happen to be green, but that doesn't matter. Neither wants to spend a lot of time working them, mainly since they are scattered around and have probably as much road time as working time.

1066 is WAY too big for what you need/want to do....The big category #3 hitch will be unhandy for you.You would be better served with a 966-better still a 766.706/756 would be great,as would a 656.Some guys dont like a '06 tractor as they can get hard to shift as they get old(linkage design). The 282 D motor is harder to start, but still quite acceptable.Make sure you get a tractor with a 3 point, not the 2pt 'fasthitch'.Do some research on the red tractors.IH made many models from the early/mis '60 to the mid 70s that would serve well.60 to 80 hp is about what you will need and still have plenty of power.Remember, you're going to get as many different answers as there people reading this......

Nothing wrong with any of them. You simply expressed interest in the 1066, saying you liked the way it looks.

Frankly, I think you would be better served with a smaller utility tractor in 584-684-784-884 range. A 1066 is going to be more of a nuisance than a help in a 1-acre area.

The 84-series still has that square hood, round headlight look you like, but in a smaller handier package for 1-10 acre fields.

There is also the 74-series, which are the same as the 84-series with different hoods. The 74 series would be from the same era as the 1066, while the 84 series is newer.

When shopping remember that beggars can't be choosers. Those crops need to go in at a certain time to do any good, so if you're in a time crunch don't turn your nose up at a smoking deal on a good tractor just because it isn't the exact model you want.
