I know this a really basic question but doesn't the distributor rotor on a cub just pull off? I tried to get the one off of my Dad's and didn't want to pry to hard because we didn't have a new one. Also shouldn't the dust cover just pry up also? Thanks

yes to both questions.

the dust cover is tough to get off sometimes. i have broken several, but, it has to come off to get to the points, etc..

A distributor rotor just pulls off, but if it is a magneto, there is a bracket that holds the rotor in place. A magneto rotor is also an expensive rotor with a gear molded into the base.

First thanks for the replies. That is what I thought because everything seems similar to my Allis C that I just took apart. I will try a little harder next time and think I will get a new dust cover just in case. Thanks again!
