International Hytran fluid

Hey fella's do ya'll know what hydraulic oil out is comparable to the hytran fluid. Over here in Virginia the oil through the dealer is damn near $84.00 a five gallon bucket, and the fluid needs to be changed in this 806. I have tried comparing on the internet, but such luck. I know ya'll are more experience than I'am at this IH stuff, so I'm looking for answers. If this was a Oliver I would have no problem knowing what I could stick back it, but I decided to get a little red in my blood, and here I'am.

find a quality utf that meets the spec.

for instance. the CNH spec we ford guys look for for the old stuff is M2C134D

look past the super bargain cheap 19$/5g pails and look more in the 25-50$ pails to find a better quality.

Phillips 'HG' Fluid;Mobil 303;NAPA universal
transmission oil.Any Hydralic/transmission oil that
meets HyTran specs is just fine.

I know hytran is expensive but it's worth it.Hytran has a anti foaming and water dispersing additive in it. If you fix your leaks it would be a onetime expense. I worked 10 years as a IH parts person. I would get calls wanting hydraulic pumps, they tell me they work good till things warm up. Another guy said he almost drove his tractor into a dam. He wanted another pump, said this would be his third pump in as many years.I asked what kind of oil he was using and I told him to change it and put hytran in. He told me next time that that 656 never steered so good. I even tried a Conco oil in a 460, was a waste of oil. Tractors built between 58 and 90's I would stick with hytran or ATF or maybe JD oil.

(quoted from post at 08:24:57 08/24/14) Don't know where you are in VA. but I have five 5 gallon buckets of genuine Hy-Tran I would sell for $60 each
I live in Farnham,VA 22460 what part of Virginia do you live in?

I'll second that. The cheap oils barely make spec. We once had to replace all the hoses on a 555A Ford backhoe due to the hydraulics running hot with cheap fluid.

Basically, avoid the store brands. NAPA oil is packaged by Valvoline, don't know if it's the same oil or not, but they still charge enough for it that it should be.

I was wondering what the price of ih hytran was. For me the
Agco dealer is closer and theirs is 90 bucks for 5 gal too.

If you would compare a sample of genuine oil to the cheap
crap for 45 a bucket and you care about your tractor you would
buy the good stuff. It seems slightly thicker and certainly has
more color to it therefore the thought is more good additives in
it.

I have the same feelings about dealer engine oil. I use rotella
and deal ac in my lesser tractors the high dollar ones get
dealer oil. Dealer oil is darker ( more food coloring I guess) so
it must have more god stuff in it.
